Audi Q5 55 TFSI e quattro plug-in HYBRID arrives in the UK – costs from £55,000

The Audi Q5 55 TFSI e quattro – Audi’s plug-in take on the Q5 SUV – goes on sale in the UK in June and costs from around £55,000.

A few months ago we reported that the Audi A6, A7, A8 and Q5 TFSI e plug-in Hybrids were on their way to add some extra oomph and potential economy improvements for the Audi range. And now one of those, the Audi Q5 55 TFSI e quattro, is about to go on sale in the UK.

Audi say they’re pitching the Q5 plug-in at commuters, fleet operators and company car drivers, claiming an electric range of 26 miles and a top speed on just electric power of 84mph. But it might take a while to get there on just the battery.

The Q5 plug-in uses a 2.0 litre four-pot petrol with 248bhp and mates it to an electric motor producing 141bhp for a combined output of 362bhp and 369lb/ft of torque, promising a 0-62mph of 5.3 seconds and economy of 113mpg (yeah, right).

There’s a selection of Driving Mods to suit, with Hybrid utilising the best combination of power sources, EV using just the electric motor and Battery Hold saving the charge for when you might actually need to drive as a pure EV.

Standard kit include LED headlights, 20″ Grey alloys, electric massaging sport seats, Climate and Technology Pack (with Virtual Cockpit).

Audi say orders for the Q5 55 TFSI e quattro open in the UK next month (June 2019) with prices starting from ‘around’ £55,000.
