New Kia XCeed
The Kia XCeed – Kia’s new Crossover take on the new Ceed – gets a proper reveal following a mini reveal earlier this month. On sale in the UK in July.
Kia managed to reveal the new XCeed earlier this month with a single profile image, and gave us a look at the XCeed’s new digital instrument panel a few days later. Now, with the XCeed due to go on sale on 5 July, Kia has decided it’s time you knew a bit more about the XCeed.
THe fourth model in the Ceed range, the XCeed effectively sits between the Stonic and Sportage in Kia’s ‘SUV’ offerings, although the XCeed is definitely more Crossover than SUV.
Basically a Ceed, but with almost all the body panels tweaked, new headlights, new tail lights, new grille and air intakes, the same wheelbase but a bit more length and a ride height raise by 42mm (a bit over 1.5 inches in old money).
Inside the XCeed it’s pretty much what you get in the Ceed, although Kia’s new digital instrument panel does feature as does a 10.25″ infotainment screen (if you buy a posh enough XCeed). There’s also a yellow colour pack which splashes yellow around the cabin and yellow stitching on the seats.
Under the skin Kia has given the XCeed its own chassis setup with hydraulic bump stops and softer springs and dampers for a more absorbent ride.
Engine options at launch are mainstream, with three petrols – 118bhp three-cylinder, 138bhp four-cylinder and the 201bhp from the Ceed GT – and a 1.6 litre diesel with 114bhp or 135bhp, with six-speed manual or seven-speed DCT. 48V mild hybrid versions will follow in 2020.
The new Kia XCeed is expected to go on sale in July, but so far Kia hasn’t decided how much the new Ceed Crossover will cost.
