BMW iNext electric SUV will be the BMW i6
The BMW iNext – BMW’s electric SUV – will be the BMW i6 when it goes in to production, and there’s a new BMW X8 on the way too.
It’s getting on for a year since the BMW iNEXT Concept was revealed as BMW’s electric SUV future, since when we’ve had something of a drip of information as BMW plays catch-up with Audi and Mercedes in the premium electric SUV segment.
We’ve expected the iNext to come fully formed with a range-topping battery pack and lots of electric power and torque but, according to AutomobileMag, there’s going to be a bit more to the offering than that.
In fact the iNext will be called the BMW i6 – which would suggest more BMW GT or high-riding Crossover than actual SUV – and will be offered in three different setups, delivering a range of power and price options for prospective electric SUV buyers to ponder.
The battery pack sizes will be 63kWh, 92kWh and 103kWh, with power outputs of 330bhp, 423bhp and over 500bhp respectively. Performance to 62mph will range from 4.5 seconds to under 3.0 seconds. Expect prices to start in the £60ks and rise above £100k for the top model with bells and whistles.
As an added bit of info, we also learn that a BMW X8 is on the way to sit above the new BMW X7, but it’s expected to get individual – probably ‘Coupe’ – styling and be the most expensive car BMW produce.

All they did was stretch and squat the icars. Just don’t think that styling is going to have widespread appeal. I for one would rather just have an X3 or X5 with batteries than a squatty I looking vehicle. Don’t get the parallel line?
