New Land Rover Defender LEAKS again
The new Land Rover Defender has leaked out again ahead of its official debut tomorrow (10 September) looking rather like the DC100 Concept.
Having already seen the new Land Rover Defender on the James Bond set, we now get treated to another leak of Defender photos and specs just 24 hours ahead of the Defender’s official debut at Frankfurt. This time they come via Instagram and deliver a number of images and specs of the new Defender with pages said to be from an upcoming magazine feature by South Africa’s SA4x4.
Apart from showing a new Defender which seems to look even more like the 2011 DC100 Concept than the Bond leak did (despite Land Rover’s claims it wouldn’t), it’s also the first undisguised look at the ‘workhorse’ Defender in 90 guise, complete with off-road toys which may, or may not, be part of the new Defender’s option range.
The information appears to confirm the new Defender will launch in both 90 and 110 guises (with the 130 to follow), with off-road chops demonstrated with the 110 getting 291mm of gound clearence, a 900mm wading depth, and approach, break-over, and departure angles of 38 degrees, 28 degrees and 40 degrees.
It also looks like the Defender will come as standard with a locking centre diff and optional rear diff, and a new version of Land Rover’s Terrain Response suited to more hardcore off-roading.
It also seems the 90 will get a jump seat in the front (seating for six), and that the 110 will be able to swallow 2,380 litres of ‘stuff’.
The officially official details on the new Land Rover will be here tomorrow.
