New Skoda Octavia teased
The new Skoda Octavia, Skoda’s take on the VW Golf Mk8, is teased in design sketches ahead of a debut expected in November.
You want a cheap VW Golf? The answer has long been to go and buy a Skoda Octavia, pure Golf under the skin but with rather more conservative styling. And with the new Golf Mk8 due to makes its debut later this month, a new Skoda Octavia is on the way too, and Skoda are starting the tease with a slick and sexy sketch of the new Octavia. Which looks promising.
If the sketch of the new Octavia is to be believed, then it’s turning in to a sexy four-door coupe with big wheels and stunning lights – and no door handles.
But the reality is likely to be a lot more prosaic, with the new Octavia, despite its new Golf underpinnings, expected to get styling that is very much an evolution of the current, conservative looks.
That said, the new Octavia’s interior is likely to be more changed than the exterior, with a new more upmarket bits, probably taking more than a bit of inspiration from the new Scala, but still don’t expect anything too radical.
In terms of what’s under the skin, you won’t be shocked to learn that most of it will be Golf Mk8, including hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions.
Expect a tease or three more between now and the debut of the new Octavia on 11 November.
