Range Rover ELECTRIC finally arrives – looking just like every other Range Rover

September 2, 2026 By Cars UK

The Range Rover Electric finally arrives to deliver all the goodness of a V8 Range Rover, but powered by electric.

The plan by JLR to deliver an electric Range Rover has been around since the current Range Rover – L460 – arrived back in 2021, sitting on a Platform which worked with petrol, diesel PHEV and EV powertrains.

We may not have seen an electric Range Rover so far, but we’ve had plenty of teases over the last few years for from a tease when the waiting list opened nearly three years ago, a bit of snow testing in 2024 and, most recently, confirmation of some of the RR EVs specs.

Now, finally, Range Rover reveals the electric version of its global flagship and, as suspected, it looks exactly like every other Range Rover apart from slightly aero-tweaked alloys and a blanked-off grille. But of course, it’s all about what’s under the skin that counts.

Sensibly, JLR hasn’t chased absurd horsepower and mad acceleration, but has delivered a Range Rover EV with similar performance to its V8 models.

That means a pair of identical – front and back – electric motors good for 326bhp each and a combined output of 555bhp powered by a 118.5kWh battery, enough to hit 62mph in 4.5 seconds and promise an official range of 372 miles (JLR says 333 in the real world).

Range Rover Electric EV550 InteriorIts 800-volt architecture means a DC charging rate of up to 350 kW, which means, at least theoretically, a 10-80% charge in a bit over 20 minutes.

The RR EV also gets a new traction management system, which responds much quicker, a lower centre of gravity, twin-valve dampers and the same 900mm wading depth as its ICE siblings.

Martin Limpert, Managing Director, Range Rover, said:

Range Rover Electric is the result of a decade of considered engineering and technological development, setting a new benchmark for The Original Luxury SUV. Electric propulsion is perfectly suited to the exquisite refinement of Range Rover, elevating the sense of calm and secluded sanctuary for occupants.

The new Range Rover Electric – which is badged EV550 – is now on sale, with the Autobiography model costing £154,070 and a First Edition model £157,610, with SV models costing the best part of £200k.

So actual 333 WTLP, or about 240 EPA? I guess if the butler charges it daily, it works? It is pretty, lol.
