It seems the Alfa Romeo 4C may finally arrive in production guise at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, and on sale soon after.

First seen at the Geneva Motor Show in 2011 – when we expected it to go on sale in 2012 – the 4C has been rolled out by Alfa Romeo a few times since – even complete with ‘teasers’ when all that had changed was the colour – to keep up interest in a car that holds much promise but didn’t seem to be heading anywhere.
But now, according to Autocar, Alfa Romeo has confirmed that a production version of the Alfa 4C will arrive at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show before going on sale – at least in Europe – later in the year. Which is exactly what we said in 2011 after Top Gear had a chat with Alfa on the 4C.
It seems the 4C will change little from the concept we’ve already seen and will be powered by Alfa’s 1750cc turbo 4-cylinder which, with a modest 1000kg to move around, should offer decent performance.
If Alfa are to move forward they need the 4C to hit the market running and spearhead Alfa’s American market ambitions. To that end, there’s an Alfa 4C convertible in the works too which should arrive in 2014 (although that could easily be 2015 or 2015 or…) and add to the new Alfa’s appeal.
All of which makes the Alfa Romeo stand at the 2013 Geneva Motor SHow an enticing prospect. Not only should we have the Alfa 4C in production-ready guise, but we could see the first 4C Roadster Concept and the production Alfa SUV.
