Audi tease the debut of the e-tron electric SUV for 17 September in San Francisco
The new Audi e-tron – Audi’s first electric SUV and competition for the Jaguar I-Pace – will now debut on 17 September in San Francisco.
Audi has worked hard to get their e-tron electric SUV front and centre, and despite only having camouflaged prototypes to play with they did all they could to take a bit of the shine off the launch of the Jaguar I-Pace in Geneva earlier this year. That little game, and seemingly endless snippets of information and photos, were supposed to lead up to an official reveal next month, but that all went a bit Pete Tong when Audi’s CEO was arrested in connection with the dieselgate shenanigans and Audi pulled the plug on the debut.
But now the e-tron debut is back on, and it’s going to be revealed at a special event in San Francisco on 17 September, going on sale straight after (in the USA).
We’re not entirely sure how much detail we’re still unaware of with the e-tron, because we’ve already seen the interior, we know its getting ‘virtual’ mirrors (where they’re legal) and that it will be able to tow (which, so far, the Jaguar I-Pace can’t).
We also know it will cost from £71k, is already on sale in some European markets and the expectation is for around 400bhp, 90kWh battery and 0-62mph in around 4.5 seconds.
But any little secrets the e-tron still holds will be revealed in September.
