Audi teases new car for Frankfurt. 2014 Audi A8 or new Quattro?

With the Frankfurt Motor Show only six weeks away, Audi are teasing a new car to be revealed ahead of the show. Is it the new 2014 Audi A8 or the production Quattro?

It does feel like September is still a long way off, but the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show is only six weeks away, and Audi are already teasing a new model for the show in a new teaser video.

They’re not exactly giving much away – the video reveals just the front nearside corner of the new car – but what is it?

The two most likely candidates are the 2014 A8 and the production Quattro, although there is a chance we could see a new, range-topping, Audi A9 coupe.

But we know there’s a facelift for the Audi A8 on the way for 2014, so there’s a strong case for believing that lurking under Audi’s dustsheets in the video are the 2014 A8 and its sport sibling, the 2014 S8.

But if it’s not the A8/S8 then it’s probably a production version of the Audi Quattro Concept, shown at the Paris Motor Show in 2010, and tipped for production as a limited run model, or a new standalone sporty Audi, ever since.

The final possibility is that this is a new range-topping Audi A9, but that seems a bit of a stretch at this stage, and the shape under the dust sheets makes it clear this isn’t the mooted Audi Q9 super SUV either.

But whatever Audi has under its sheets for the Frankfurt show, it’ll be revealed on 21st August 2013.
