BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition goes on sale
To celebrate another DTM driver’s title – for Marco Wittmann – we get the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition with M4 GTS power and DTM looks.
BMW say the M4 DTM comes with drive and suspension delivered by the best motor racing technology, and a design which mimics that of the DTM track cars. They also get the same 493bhp as the M4 GTS.
That power output is thanks to the straight-six getting water injection to cool combustion chambers and significantly raising the engine’s performance limits, delivering 493bhp, 442lb/ft of torque, 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds and a limited top speed of 190mph.
The exterior titivations mimic the track cars, with Alpine White paint, BMW DTM foiling, and visible carbon fibre on the aerodynamic elements including front splitter, rear diffuser, rear wing, aero flicks and mirrors.
Inside, the M4 DTM gets a stripped-out look with the rear seats replaced by a white roll bar and M Carbon bucket seats at the front, but BMW has actually covered a chunk of the interior in Alcantara and fitted Air Con, Professional Sat Nav, LED headlights, Selective Beam, OLED tail lights and PDC. So not too hair shirt.
Weight is kept down with CFRP for the bonnet, roof and rear diffuser and titanium for the tail pipes, with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 high-performance tyres for track grip and 3-way coilover suspension.

Never before has one of our edition models been so closely linked to motor racing.
There are no prices or numbers for the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition yet, but the 30 UK cars and £121k price tag for the M4 GTS points to the ballpark, as does the €148,500 price in Germany.
