BMW M8 Gran Coupe
The new BMW M8 Gran Coupe is revealed as BMW add a bit of extra length and a couple of extra doors to the M8 Coupe. On sale now from £120,935.
We may be in a minority in thinking the BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe was the best looking BMW you could buy, and we’re probably going to be in a minority by declaring the same about the new BMW M8 Gran Coupe, revealed as the new four-door take on BMW’s new M8. But it is.Just like the 6-Series Gran Coupe, the extra length and extra doors in the M8 somehow conspire to make the proportions just so pleasing to the eye, but, just like the M8 Coupe, the M8 Gran Coupe isn’t just about the looks.
Just like the M8 Coupe, the M8 Gran Coupe comes with BMW’s 4.4 litre V8 complete with 616bhp, four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering, all conspiring to shift the M8 from 0-62mph in a quite startling 3.2 seconds. Which is properly bonkers for a big, comfy four-door saloon, and the same performance as the Coupe.
Of course, the new 8 Series models have taken the place of the old 6-Series, and that’s given BMW license to charge somewhat more, so whereas the old BMW M6 Gran Coupe arrived at under £100k, the new M8 Gran Coupe costs £120,935.
But that’s actually less than the M8 Coupe and, for us, it’s a more complete car. Which makes it a bit of a bargain.
But wait a couple of years and you’ll be able to pick one up for half that.
