The Citroen DS 6WR – initially thought to be the DX X7) – has been revealed as the production version of the Wild Rubis Concept as a DS SUV for China.

The Citroen DS 6WR (pictured) is the first DS SUV
Last week Citroen started to tease a new SUV heading for the Beijing Motor Show, which we thought would be the DS X7.
The nose of the DS 6WR gets a chrome grill that blends in to the swept-back headlights and there’s a crease down the side from the trailing edge of the headlights back to the C-pillar – much like the Wild Rubis.
At the back, the lights blend in to the wraparound tailgate with the glass framed by chrome with chrome trim also on the base of the tailgate and a twin exhaust.
The DS 6WR is 4550mm long and 1860mm wide, making it a bit smaller than a BMW X3 and the Wild Rubis and doesn’t get 4WD, instead it relies on Citroen’s Grip Control System to offer traction with better fuel economy than 4WD would offer.
Power comes from either the e-THP 160 or THP 200 powerplants with a 6-speed automatic gearbox as standard.
The Citroen DS 6WR will debut at the Beijing Motor Show next week – alongside the new DS 5LS R – before going on sale in China later this year.
And, we would expect, its appearance in Europe not too long after.
