Today’s rumour says that Citroen are going to be making a Citroen DS3 Convertible. Blow me down with a feather.
To be entirely fair, this is one of those really tenuous stories that you wish had more detail, but doesn’t. There is just enough – and only just enough – to warrant running a story, but no meat to get in to.
What Car have apparently got someone at Citroen – a ‘source’ – to say that there will be a Citroen DS3 Convertible. At some point. But not before 2012. And they don’t know if it will be a soft top or a folding tin top. They also don’t know if it will offer the same range of engines as the DS3 does, but they do say that there won’t be a convertible version of the Citroen DS3 Racing. Probably.
Which I think we could all have worked out for ourselves. Citroen are doing with the DS3 what Audi are doing with the A1. They’e using the MSM method to market their cars. That’s the ‘MINI School of Marketing’.
You know, the one where you construe every derivative you can, then you add derivatives of the derivative, then you do Limited Editions of the derivative’s derivative then…. You get the drift. So a Convertible Citroen DS3 has to be a dead cert at some point.
But it’s nice a What Car ‘Source’ told us so.
