Cupra Tavascan ELECTRIC SUV Previewed
SEAT’s now standalone Cupra previews the electric Tavascan SUV Concept heading for the Frankfurt Motor Show, with individual looks and a 302bhp EV powertrain.
There’s really no shortage of SUVs of all sizes from the VW Group, but there’s not a huge amount differentiating a Skoda from a VW or a SEAT SUV. But now there is.Cupra, SEAT’s now standalone brand, has revealed the Cupra Tavascan, an electric SUV COupe with individual styling and a decent turn of power.
The looks are clearly the standout for the Tavascan , and like them or not they are individual with sculptured bonnet, squinting headlights, fins, full width light bar at the back and statement alloys which apparently cut air resistance and make the SUV ‘glide’. Right.
Under the skin is a twin-motor electric setup good for 302bhp, which, Cupra says, will get to 62mph in 6.5 seconds, which seems a bit poor, and is built on VW’s MEB Platform with a 77kWh battery delivering a range of 280 miles.
Inside there’s a mix of leather, carbon fibre and Alcantara, with a digital instrument panel and big 13″ infotainment screen which can be swivelled to point at the front seat passenger.
Will the Cupra Tavascan make it to production and keep its looks intact? It has a chance.
