Electric Car Charging rolling out across more than 400 UK PETROL Stations
Motor Fuel Group – which has more than 400 petrol stations in the UK – is rolling out electric car charging points at its filling stations.
We learnt last month that BP is going to start adding electric car charging points to its UK filling stations as they look to find a way to future-proof their business model as more and more cars turn to electricity to power them. But it looks like independent BP stations are going to get there first, with Motor Fuel Group (MFG) tieing up with ChargePoint Services to do just that across their UK sites.
MFG operate more than 400 filling station sites across the UK – selling fuel brands like BP, Shell, Texaco, JET and Murco – and their sites will become part of ChargePoint Services’ GeniePoint Network.
The MFG sites will host rapid charging points delivering 50kW plus rapid chargers, which should mean drivers not having to wait too long to recharge their EVs and get on the move again.
But what it will do is maker sure those drivers have at least half an hour to kill whilst their cars are refuelling. But that’s part of the financial opportunity for MFG.
Just as BP-owned site have shops and Wild Bean Cafes attached, MFG’s sites offer forecourt shops and ‘Food to Go’ with a selection of franchises on-site including Londis, Budgens, Costcutter, Costa and Subway.
So while your EV charges you’ll be able to get fat by scoffing endless Subways and chocolate treats. and helping MFG’s sites turn a profit.
