ELECTRIC Maserati Alfieri on the way
The Maserati Alfieri Concept is turning in to a production car, but it will be offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, and as a pure electric car promising 0-62mph under 2.0 seconds.
You’d probably need to be a bit of a Maserati anorak to remember the Maserati Alfieri Concept from 2014, but when Maserati revealed it they promised it would arrive by 2016 complete with lots of ICE power. A Maserati Alfieri Convertible was also promised for 2017.Of course, none of that happened. But now Maserati has a new plan for the Alfieri – which is really, definitely, going to happen – and that’s to turn it is to both a plug-in hybrid and a pure BEV, and the new Alfieri will arrive in the next five years. Unless Maserati change their minds.
Assuming they don’t, they’re promising the all electric, four-wheel drive Alfieri will be good for a 0-62mph time of under 2.0 seconds (pretty much what Elon Musk is promising for the next generation Tesla Roadster) from its three motor powertrain with 800V battery technology.
Not only that, but Maserati are also promising the new Alfieri will come as both a coupe and a convertible. Just as they promised for the original Alfieri Concept in 2014.
Time will tell.
