The Ford Edge Sport SUV has debuted at the Geneva Motor Show ahead of going on sale in the UK as a new, range-topping SUV offering from Ford.

Ford Edge Sport SUV bows in at Geneva
The new Ford Edge SUV is Ford‘s big hope for mopping up sales from cars like the BMW X3 in Europe, and although it’ll be a well-built, able soft-roader, that might be a hope too far. Which is a bit of a shame.
Whether the somewhat American look of the Edge – particularly at the front end – will appeal to buyers in the UK remains to be seen, but as a cheaper option to cars like the X3 it could well find its place.
And with the Edge soon to arrive in Ford’s UK dealers, Ford has revealed the Edge Sport at Geneva (although we had photos of it when the European Edge was revealed last year) which is meant to convey a performance-inspired look. Even if the most you’re likely to be able to stick under the bonnet of the Edge is a 2.0 litre diesel with auto box and 4WD good for 207bhp.
But a lack of real get up and go hasn’t stopped other SUV makers creating a sporty veneer for their cars, so Ford has added gloss black highlights, colour-coded bumpers, cladding, mirrors and handles, skid plate and rear diffuser, sports tail pipes, 20″ dark alloys, sports seats with carbon fibre effect inserts, silver highlights in the cabin and a piano black finish for some interior trim.
The new Ford Edge SUV – in Trend, Sport and Titanium trim – will be on sale in the UK in the summer, at prices expected to start at under £30,000.
