The first compact car from Infiniti will be the Infiniti Q30, be based on the underpinnings of the new Mercedes A-Class and debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

With the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show now starting to loom, we’re starting to get teasers and announcements for Europe’s biggest car show.
Of course, you could argue we’ve already seen the Q30 concept in the form of the Infiniti Eteherea, but this Q30 will be much closer to the production reality than the Etherea was.
That means underpinings take from the new Mercedes A-Class and a set of engines likely sourced, in the main, from Mercedes too. What does seem likely is that the Q30 will also get a hybrid powertaing option too and maybe even an EV version.
Infiniti are bigging up the Q30 with claims that its design will bring to mind a Cheetah – slender and lightweight – and that it will be dynamic too with Sebastian Vettel – Infiniti’s Director of Performance – on board from the start to make sure the Q30 is a driver’s car.
Johan de Nysschen, Infiniti’s President, said:
This Infiniti Q30 Concept is a prelude to the product portfolio expansion which underpins our aggressive global growth strategy.
In our quest to appeal to the modern, young-minded premium customer, the Infiniti Q30 Concept has a distinctive style and reaches new levels of product quality.
If the Q30 Concept is debuting at Frankfurt, it seems likely the production version could arrive at Geneva 2014 and go on sale later that year. And the Q30 will be built in the UK.
No doubt we’ll learn more as Frankfurt approaches.
