Jaguar XF and Hajuar XK facelifts at New York
As usual, we’re hosting LIVE coverage of the Jaguar Press Conference at the New York Motor Show. Expect the reveal of the 2012 facelifts for the XF and XK.
It’s another motor show month, and although Jaguar are at the Shanghai Motor Show the real action is due to take place in New York on Wednesday 20th April.
So what do Jaguar have up their sleeve for fans at the New York Motor Show? Actually, we don’t think there’s anything we haven’t already reported, but you never know.
The main event will be the 2012 Jaguar XF facelift, with a tweak or three to the nose to make it look more like the XJ, a quick tidy round the back and a twiddle at the edges with the already fine cabin.
Odd though it seems for a Motor Show being held in a country that’s as averse to oil burners as were a decade ago, the proper big news will be the reveal of the XF 2.2 Diesel, designed to take the fight to BMW’s 5-Series fleet sales in Europe.
We’re hoping – nay, expecting – that Jaguar will be offering the 2.2 Diesel with the same level of trim and equipment options as the 3.0 litre diesel.
The last thing the XF 2.2 Diesel should be is a hair-shirt option. Yes, there needs to be a headline-grabbing, entry-level XF 2.2 with a low price. But equally there must be a top end XK 2.2 Diesel Portfolio with all the toys.
Also on the cards is the 2012 Jaguar XK facelift, which is pretty much presaged by the 2011 XKR-S, which will also be making its debut on American soil.
A new nose, new lights, tidied-up rump and a overhaul of the interior should see the XK fit for a while to come. Oh, and an outside chance of a Jaguar XK 3.0 litre Diesel too.
The Jaguar press conference is due to take place tomorrow (20th April) between 8:30pm and 8:50pm BST.
