Jaguar’s 2015 Mille Miglia car line-up
[nggallery id=2105 template=customlinks]
Jaguar is back for the 2015 Mille Miglia with a familiar line-up of C-Types, D-Types, XKs and a MK VII, and familiar faces to drive too including Jodie Kidd.
Jaguar was there at the real Mille Miglia before it became a showcase parade (which is also the only reason they’re there now), and they’re back in force for the 2015 outing – the 80th anniversary year of the first Jaguar – with a stunning set of classic 1950s Jaguars, and some familiar faces behind the wheel. One face that isn’t that familiar behind the wheel of a Jaguar is five-time Le Mans winner Derek Bell, but he’ll pop his Mille Miglia cherry behind the wheel of C-Type, alongside art collector Adam Lindeman.
Mike Cross – Jaguar’s Mr Chassis – gets behind the wheel of a second C-Type, with the third C-Type being driven by RAC Motoring Committee Chairman Ben Cussons.
The first of the three D-Types is being driven by Jaguar’s own Ian Callum – alongside Clive Beecham – with TV chef James Martin piloting the penultimate ‘Long Nose’ D-Type with Nick English, and the final D-Type will be driven by Simon Kidston, a man who’s made a bob or two sourcing classic cars.
Driving the XK 120 ‘OOF 748’ it’s familiar Jaguar supermodel time, with Jodie Kidd and David Gandy back for another Jaguar Mille Miglia outing – this time in the same car – and the XK 140 gets driven by Elliot Gleave (better known as Example) and his dad, Michael.
Finally, the swiftest saloon car of its day – the Jaguar MK VII – gets taken round the Mille Miglia’s 1,000 or so miles from Brescia to Rome and back by adventurer and presenter Charley Boorman (with Bremont‘s Giles English at his side), who may well find the outing less physically challenging than many of his previous two-wheel adventures.
It’s a good mix of classic Jaguars, sponsors out playing, in-house names and famous faces, and it all runs from 14-17 May when you can expect regular updates from Jaguar and plenty of #JaguarMille Tweets from the drivers.
