Lamborghini Huracan hits 8,000 milestone
The Lamborghini Huracan, Lamborghini’s Ferrari 488-baiter, hits the 8,000 production mark after just three years in production. It’s the fastest-selling Lamborghini ever.
The Lamborghini Huracan – Lamborghini’s entry-level supercar – arrived just over three years ago to take on Ferrari and replace the Gallardo. That’s a tall order, with not just Ferrari to compete with, but the knowledge that its predecessor – the Lamborghini Gallardo – was the best-selling Lamborghini ever.
But the Huracan got off to a cracking start with 700 orders placed before its official debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, and fetching £30k premiums at one point – a terrific start for a car which cost from £181k.
Since then, the original Huracan LP 640-4 has been joined by the rear-wheel drive LP 580-2 and Spyder convertible, and that’s allowed Lamborghini to keep up a cracking production level.
Now, three years on from when the Huracan went in to production, the Huracan has passed the 8,000 production cars milestone, which makes the Huracan the fastest-selling Lamborghini ever, selling at almost twice the level of the Gallardo, which managed 14,000 sales in its ten-year lifespan.
Car number 8,000 (seen above) has now been produced – it’s a Huracan Spyder in Grigio Lynx – and has left Sant’Agata bound for its new owner in the UK.
The Huracan may now hold the record as the quickest selling Lamborghini ever, but it seems likely that mantle will pass to the Lamborghini Urus SUV when that arrives.
