Lamborghini Murcielago LP650-4 Roadster at a motor event in the US

We managed to moan earlier today when we brought you a picture of the Lamborghini LP670-4 SV without the big wing that Lamborghini news had been a bit thin on the ground lately. No sooner had we written that piece than in dropped a picture of the first Lamborghini LP650-4 Roadster out on the road – well, almost (it was actually at a show in the US).

We first got details on the new Lamborghini LP650-4 Roadster back in February, and Lamborghini subsequently issued a set of pictures to show it was real. But it was a bit of a surprise to see a real one turn up at a Lamborghini event in the US.

Sporting the same 650bhp as the Lamborghini Reventon, the LP650-4 Roadster is the last of the line of open-topped Murcielagos (apart from the Reventon Roadster – which as there will only be 9 doesn’t really count), and is the successor to the LP640 Roadster. It will put its 650bhp through all four wheels, and should achieve the o-60 sprint in a shade over 3 seconds. Expect it to have the same daft ‘Origami’ soft-top as the LP640 Roadster, but expect it to be even more brutal.

No word on when it will come to the UK, but we think the Euro price is around €295k. Expect that to be a shade under £300k when it arrives, based on the LP670-4 SV running in at around £275k.
