Lexus LC Convertible revealed
Two years on from the arrival of the beautiful Lexus LC Coupe, Lexus are taking the next step with a new LC Convertible Concept, debuting at the Detroit Motor Show.
It’s six years since we first saw the Lexus LF-LC Concept as Lexus delivered a stunning look at what they could do, but with no intention of making it a reality. But the response to the LF-LC Concept was so overwhelmingly positive that Lexus decided they had to find a way to make it a reality, and two years ago – almost to the day – the new Lexus LC was revealed.
Despite toning-=down the looks of the LF-LC Concept, Lexus managed to deliver a car which stunned visually and, although not a stellar performer, it arrived with a choice of petrol V8 or Lexus Hybrid powertrains, both offering more than acceptable levels of performance.
Since then we’ve had a couple of limited edition LC models, and the rumours are still rife that Lexus will deliver a 600bhp LC F to give the LC real performance bite. And now we get the Lexus LC Convertible.
Debuting at the Detroit Motor Show the LC Convertible is billed by Lexus as a Concept, but there;’s no way they’re not going to turn it in to a production model. Tadao Mori, Chief Designer, said:
This concept takes the unmistakable design of the LC coupe and reimagines it as a future convertible. It blends all the best aspects of the original coupe with the dynamic design of an open-air convertible.
A production version of this concept would be exhilarating in many different ways. You would see its dynamic lines as you approach, hear its engine when you started it up and feel everything around you once on the road. It would engage the senses in a way that is unique and exciting every time you got behind the wheel.
Yes please.
