The Lexus RX – the biggest Lexus SUV you can get in the UK – gets a bit of a facelift and new technology and is revealed ahead of an autumn debut.
In the last year the Lexus RX SUV has added a new RX L seven-seat model to the range to take on competition like the Volvo XC90, and had its model offerings tweaked. And now we’re getting a new Lexus RX.
This isn’t an all-new RX, but it is a subtle updating of the very good RX with the usual facelift tweaks but some welcome technology updates too.
That means tweaked bumpers and lights front and back, new alloys and a titivated grille, enough to make the RX look fresh but not messing with the looks in any meaningful way.
There have been some tweaks under the skin too, with new front and rear stabiliser bars and reinforced bushes halping keep the RX a bit flatter, and shocks tuned for more comfort. The F-Sport model now gets Active Variable suspension.
There’s also a full suite of Lexus safety stuff as standard including low light pedestrian detection, pre-collision warning that can now see cyclists, Lane Tracing Assist and Blade Scan Adaptive headlights.
Inside there’s a new multimedia touchscreen which should let you interact without using the weak spot Lexus TrackPad, complete with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well as voice control with Siri or Google Assistant through a Smartphone.
The new Lexus RX – and seven-seat RX L – go on sale in the UK in the autumn.
