McLaren BP23 Hyper GT teased again
McLaren are back with another fairly uninformative tease for the Hyper GT they’re calling the BP23 which comes with F1-style three seats.
Four months ago, McLaren revealed plans to create a three-seater Hyper GT car to be built in limited numbers by MSO, no doubt at a ludicrous price.Considering McLaren say they’ve already pre-sold all 106 cars to be built – a number which matches the total number of McLaren F1 cars built in the 1990s – you might wonder why they’re busy teasing it, but the answer probably is – because they can.
This new tease brings us a new photo (above) which seems a bit of a departure for McLaren, but we do know it is designed for long journeys with high levels of comfort and performance, gets dihedral doors, lots of carbon fibre and a hybrid powerplant delivering something around 1000bhp.
The BP23 tag – which stands for Bespoke Project #2 with 3 seats – will probably disappear before the cars actually arrive with buyers in 2019 (it sounds like a grade of petrol to us), but we have no clue what it will be called. But as it’s a McLaren it will be something logical, rather than something evocative.
With probably two years to go before the first new McLaren hybrid Hyper GTs arrive with their owners, we probably have many more uninformative teases to come.
