McLaren Senna GTR – 814bhp and HUGE wing

The McLaren Senna GTR arrives as a track only version of the already track-focused Senna, with 814bhp and a huge back wing. Costs £1.3 million.

You might have thought the McLaren Senna was already a truly track-focused McLaren, but if you want a Senna that’s even more focused – and track only – then you’ll be wanting the new McLaren Senna GTR. Except you can’t, because all 75 cars are already sold at a £1.3 million price tag.

McLaren has upped the power of the Senna to 814bhp in the GTR and given it an enormous back wing which increases downforce to a whopping 1,000kg – and at lower speeds – but, say McLaren, the Senna is easy to drive, so easy that 95 per cent of drivers will be able to extract 95 per cent of the GTR’s performance.

That does mean lots of safety systems to keep drivers safe enough, Track and Race modes, plus a new Wet mode so you can drive on track in the UK, adjustable ride height suspension from the 720S GT3 and bigger 19″ wheels and bigger brakes.

McLaren has also moved the Senna’s side exhausts to a more conventional central rear exit to save weight.

Inside is basic and loses stuff like fancy touchscreens and actual glass (it’s plastic) and carpets, with carbon fibre seat and a quick release GT3 steering wheel.

Deliveries of the Senna GTR are due to start in September, and although the list price is £1.32 million in the UK McLaren expect buyers to spend a chunk more on ‘personalisation’.
