Renault officially revealed the Megane Renaultsport at the Frankfurt Motor Show and have now released UK details and prices.
Renault do a pretty good job with their Renaultsport models. Always fun for a wham, bam, thank you M’am thrash around, they offer a lot of fun – and performance – for not a ridiculous amount of money.
The latest offering from Renaultsport to hit UK shores is the Megane, which had it’s official reveal at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and is now due to go on sale from the 1st November in the UK, with first customer cars arriving in January 2010.
Renault are offering up two versions of the Renaultsport Megane – the hard-core 250 Cup version which will have you queueing at the osteopaths and the slightly softer, and better equipped, Megane 250.
Just to complicate matters you can opt for the more back-friendly Megane 250 with its extra kit including auto lights and wipers, leather and electric seats and specify it with the Cup pack. The Cup pack will add the Cup chassis, limited slip diff, grooved discs and a set of satin black alloys. That way you can wreck your back in more comfort.
Performance from the 250 is more than adequate, with 60 mph coming up in around 6 seconds from the 2.0 litre turbocharged four-pot which delivers 247bhp. Fuel consumption is a reasonable 33.6mpg, but you’ll never get that. What’s the point of buying the car if you poodle round to eke out the fuel?
Price for the Cup version is £21,995 and for the 250 it’s £22,995. Full details in the Mégane Renaultsport 250 Press Release
