Mercedes AMG GT teased on video

With the replacement for the Mercedes SLS Supercar – the Mercedes AMG GT – due to be revealed this year, AMG start a video tease.

Mercedes effective replacement for the SLS – the Mercedes AMG GT – is due to be revealed at the Paris Motor Show later this year, but Mercedes has already started the slow reveal of the AMG GT with photos of the interior last month.

Pitched a bit further down the supercar ladder than the SLS, the AMG Gt is aiming to take on cars like the Porsche 911 and deliver a car that Mercedes hope will be the benchmark in its class.

Instead of a the fair amount of bloat the SLS had, AMG are claiming the AMG GT will be much more focused, dynamic and agile, and instead of a big 6.2 litre naturally aspirated V8 it looks like the AMG GT will be getting the 4.0 litre Turbo V8 with something north of 520bhp.

The tease video released for the AMG GT talks about ‘Conquering twisty roads’ and that ‘Performance is more than just a phrase’ and that in the AMG GT ‘Driving Performance becomes a reality’ thanks to Mercedes ‘…unleashing its creative and engineering forces’. So now you know.

As well as this teaser video, Mercedes has set up a dedicated micro site for the AMG GT to keep up the tease where you’ll be able to get more details as AMG reveal them, images and even sound clips of the GT.

It looks like we’re in for a long, slow reveal of the AMG GT.
