Mercedes Concept IAA revealed. Well, a bit of it.

Mercedes Concept IAA teased ahead of Frankfurt debut

The Frankfurt Motor Show is Mercedes’ home show, so we can expect a significant concept to grab headlines. And this is the first bit of the Mercedes Concept IAA.

The 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show starts next week, and it’s the ‘Home’ show for the German ‘Premium’ brands so we can probably expect something to grab headlines from Mercedes, BMW and Audi. And this is Mercedes’ offering, albeit just a small part.

As far as we can work out, the Mercedes Concept IAA isn’t going to preview a new Mercedes production car, but looks to be in the vein of Mercedes Concepts like the F 015 Concept (below) we saw at the start of the year; a Mercedes concept to give an idea of where Mercedes are going at some point in the future. Or not at all.

What the IAA Concept tease image shows is just a bit of the boot and the rear window, but it does look like the glass in the window is curved, perhaps some sort of glass ‘bubble’ roof in the offing, just like a Zagato.

Undoubtedly there will be something interesting powering the car, perhaps a new plug-in hybrid setup or maybe a hydrogen fuel cell. It could also be autonomous, like the F 105.

But it’s all speculation. We’ll find out next week in Frankfurt.
