Mitsubishi Ground Tourer Concept TEASED
The Mitsubishi Ground Tourer Concept is being teased ahead of a reveal at the 2016 Paris Motor Show in September as a hybrid SUV or Estate.
Last year Mitsubishi delivered a couple of concepts that were aimed at showcasing Mitsubishi’s future in smaller cars and SUVs, with the Concept XR PHEV II and eX Concept. The Concept XR PHEV II arrived at the Geneva Motor Show in the spring showing what to expect in the future for the compact ASX SUV as a PHEV, and the eX Concept previewing a new all-electric powertrain.
But it looks as if Mitsubishi are looking at bigger stuff in 2016 with the reveal of the first teaser image of what is dubbed the Ground Tourer Concept.
Mitsubishi are not being exactly verbose in teasing the Ground Tourer, but the name – and the photo – would suggest it’s at the larger end of Mitsubishi’s range, and that it’s either an SUV or a high-riding estate car.
Mitsubishi say the Ground Tourer is a further evolution of its ‘Dynamic Shield’ design philosophy and expresses the design journey through four elements: Functional beauty, augmented possibilities, Japanese craftsmanship and solid thrust. So now you know.
Mitsubishi also admit to the Ground Tourer being a plug-in hybrid and that it will offer effortless travel both on and off road.
All of which gives ample opportunity for Mitsubishi to continue teasing the Ground Concept for three months until the Paris Motor Show.
By which time, no matter how impressive the concept is, we might be quite bored.
