Mitsubishi L200 Pick-up gets TOUGHER for 2018
The Mitsubishi L200 Pick-up, Mitsubishi’s best-selling pick-up – gets an increase in towing capacity for 2018 and some new technology too.
The Mitsubishi L200 Pick-up has enjoyed a terrific run as almost the ‘default’ pick-up in the UK market, and as more and more buyers realise they can get a pick-up which can double up as a family car and have big tax benefits, sales have grown. But that growth is threatened by the arrival of new products from companies you really would never have expected to enter the market – like Mercedes’ X-Class – Mitsubishi are having to work harder to protect their market.
So although it probably matters little to the ‘BIK Gamers’, Mitsubishi is upping the workhorse side of the L200 to make it even more capable than it already is.
The towing capacity of the L200 has been upped to 3.5 tonnes by strengthening load-bearing chassis areas, resulting in the increased capacity, although you’ll need to be towing a three-axle braked trailer to use the new capacity, and there’s a beefed-up tow bar to cope too.
More interesting to buyers who aren’t interested in the L200’s rufty-tufty toys is a new Infotainment system, which offers Smartphone Link Digital Audio, voice control, live traffic and will play nicely with most Smartphones.
Available in Single, Club or Double Cab spec, the 2018 Mitsubishi costs from £19,000. Although it’s a chunk more if you want anything but the basic spec single cab.
