A special edition Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Juro goes on sale in the UK offering extra value as Mitsubishi revealed Outlander PHEV sales reach 25,000.
It’s remarkable how successful the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV plug-in hybrid has become, and it’s driven the take-up of plug-in hybrids in the UK almost single handedly. It helps that the latest Outlander is a competent and able family SUV to start with, but Mitsubishi has been very clever by headlining the entry-point for the plug-in Outlander at exactly the same price point as its diesel sibling (although with caveats now).
That simple ploy has ensured that families buy-in to the logic of having a car which can do a day’s running around locally from a plug-in charge without paying a price premium, and business users get huge BIK benefits.
That’s now lead to the Outlander PHEV selling a whopping 25,000 in the UK in the two years since it was launched, has accounting for half of all plug-in hybrid sales. A remarkable success.
Of course, Mitsubishi has expanded the PHEV range over the last two years, pushing the top end GX5HS up to a substantial £45.5k. But who can blame them?
To keep the sales momentum moving forward we now get a special edition Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Juro to get footfall and sales in to Mitsubishi’s showrooms in this quiet sale period, costing the same as the PHEV GX3h+ on which it’s based (£32,749 after a £2.5k taxpayer bribe).
That means you now get extra toys for ‘free’ on the Juro, including a touchscreen CD/DVD Infotainment with TomTom Sat Nav, Smartphone integration and DAB, as well as O.U.T.L.A.N.D.E.R spelled out on the bonnet Land Rover style.
The limited edition Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Juro goes on sale at Mitsubishi’s UK dealers in November.
