Mustang Bullitt pushes UK Mustang prices close to £50k

Ford’s tribute to the Steve McQueen Mustang Bullitt goes on sale in the UK in RHD with cosmetic titivations and a slight warm over. It costs from £47,145.

Now the Ford Mustang is finally being sold in the UK, it means we can get special editions too. And this – Ford’s tribute to the Steve McQueen Mustang Bullitt – goes on sale in the UK as the film hits its 50th anniversary.

The Mustang Bullitt for the UK does get a bit of a makeover beyond cosmetic titivations, with the 5.0 litre V8 under the bonnet getting 453bhp (up by 14bhp on the normal V8 Mustang) as well as new rev-matching technology to deliver a ‘blip’ an a smoother gear-change.

But the main point of the Bullitt is to pay homage to the McQueen car – and sell a few more Mustangs – so the main focus is on how the car looks.

That means Ford’s Mustang homage gets a Dark Highland Green paint job, a bit of Bullitt design on the grille and splitter, Bullitt badges, 19″ high-gloss black alloys, six-pot Bermbos with red calipers, Recaro leather seats with green detailing and a Bullitt instrument panel badge complete with chassis number.

Although you’d probably rather listen to the Mustang’s V8 soundtrack, Ford has also fitted a 1,000W B&O Play Sound System, and as a further nod to the original there’s green stitching inside and a white cue ball gear knob.

Ford doesn’t appear to be limiting availability of the Mustang Bullitt by number, but it is only on sale for a year. So if you want one, give your Ford dealer a shout.
