New 2017 Kia Rio previewed
An all new Kia Rio for 2017 is on the way and will debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, ahead of which Kia are teasing its arrival with design sketches.
It’s five years since the current Kia Rio arrived in the UK, and although the Rio was given a bit of a facelift in 2015, it’s time for an all new Kia Rio.That all new Kia Rio will be making its debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show at the end of September, ahead of which Kia are trumpeting its arrival with design sketches giving us an idea of what to expect.
Just like all design sketches, there is certainly some artistic licence going on, with a stance which seems likely to be a lot more purposeful, alloys that are rather too large and a demeanour that’s on the sporty side.
But even if you strip out the artistic exaggerations, the new Kia Rio looks to be a more appealing car, based on an all new platform with a longer wheelbase, longer front overhang and bonnet and an upright C-Pillar.
The sketch Kia sent for the interior (below) is even more ‘sketchy’, but we assume it’s meant to depict an interior with few buttons, clean simple architecture and lots of connectivity.
The 2017 Kia Rio is due to go in to production at the end of 2016 after its Paris debut, but it seems likely it will be well in to 2017 before it arrives in the UK.
