The new Citroen C1 FURIO – sport looks and low costs
The new Citroen C1 Furio arrives as a sporty-looking C1 aimed at younger drivers, but with modest power and low insurance. On sale on August 1 from £10,855.
Citroen has used the Furio moniker on cars before – notably the C2 and Saxo – as a sporty-sounding name for a sporty-looking car. And the Furio is back in business with this, the new Citroen C1 Furio. The Citroen C1 is already a practically perfect car for urban drivers; cute, nippy, small and frugal. But it’s perhaps not the most appealing to a younger demographic, and as Citroen are currently working hard to encourage younger drivers to the marque with offers like ‘Simply Drive’, this C1 Furio is a good way to go.
Based on the C1 Feel, Citroen has given the Furio Black 15″ Planet alloys, some lively graphics, bright red door mirrors and wheel centre caps, rear diffuser and central exhaust and a choice of Lipizzan White or Carlinite Grey paint jobs. Inside, there’s ‘Wave’ upholstery and a rev counter.
Despite the bolder look, what’s under the bonnet isn’t so bold, but then that’s the point – keep the C1 Furio cheap to insure for the kids.
So you get a choice between the 1.0 litre three-cylinder petrol with 67bhp and 70lb/ft of torque or the 1.2 litre three-cylinder with 81bhp and 86lb/ft of torque, both with a five-speed manual gearbox, emissions under 100g/km and official economy of 65-69mpg.
On sale from August 1, the C1 VTi 68 manual 3-door Furio costs from £10,855 and the C1 PureTech 82 manual 3-door Furio from £11,205.
