Land Rover have concentrated on renewing the Range Rover family in the last few years, first with the new Baby Range Rover – the Range Rover Evoque – then with the new aluminium full-size Range Rover and, most recently, with the new Range Rover Sport. Now it’s the Discovery’s turn.
Ahead of a debut at the New York Auto Show later this month, the Land Rover Vision Concept gets teased as a preview of a new family of Discovery models, a roll-out that’s expected to start with a new Freelander that gets the Discovery badge.
The tease video Land Rover has revealed (below) shows a silhouette of a new Discovery model that’s much sleeker than what’s gone before, but which sees the return of the kinked roof line, and an interior shown in a single picture (also below) released by Land Rover that seems to show an interior much more upmarket than we had expected from Land Rover’s ‘Lifestyle’ Discovery range.
Gerry McGovern, Land Rover’s Design Director, said:
Discovery has been pivotal in helping to build the foundations of the Land Rover brand. It is admired all over the world and loved by its strong customer base.
We have created the Vision Concept to share the essence of Land Rover’s new age of Discovery and to debut a new, compelling, relevant design direction that connects on an emotional level with customers of today and tomorrow.
The new Land Rover Discovery Vision Concept will be revealed in a couple of weeks at the New York Auto Show, but there’s more than a fighting chance we’ll have far more before then.
