Lexus is teasing a new ‘high performance model’ ahead of a debut at the Detroit Auto Show, which is almost certainly a Lexus GS F with a 5.0 litre V8.

New Lexus GS F makes a partial appearance ahead of Detroit debut
We’ve already seen the Lexus RC F – a performance version of the RC Coupe – arrive to try and take a share of the BMW M3’s market, and now it looks like we have the Lexus take on the BMW M5 about to arrive as the Lexus GS F.
Lexus are teasing what they’re calling a new high performance model – an F-designated car – ahead of a debut at the Detroit Auto Show, but beyond that they’re saying no more.
All we get to see is a small section of the front end of the new Lexus, but it certainly looks like the GS, but a GS with much bigger air intakes, new LED headlights and some butch alloys and brakes.
We assume that the rest of the GS F will get a similar treatment, with bigger side sills and back bumper, active rear wing and bonnet bulges to set the GS F apart from its more prosaic siblings.
Under the bonnet expect the 5.0 litre V8 from the RC F, but with power pushed to over 500bhp to make it competitive with the German offerings.
Of course, we could be completely wrong and this could be a saloon version of the RC F – a new Lexus IS F!
We’ll probably have to wait for the Detroit Auto Show in January for official details, but we’re expecting to see the Lexus GS F on sale later in 2015 from around £75,000.
