New Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe caught at Nurburgring
The new Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe has been caught on video at the Nurburgring ahead of a likely debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
We thought at first that the Mercedes tease for ‘Something Fast Coming‘ could be a Black Series version of the AMG GT. But that was when all we had to go on was a driver’s eye view of something fast going round a track on a video tease from Mercedes. When Mercedes went a step further and released a few ‘spy’ shots on Facebook, it was clear the tease wasn’t for a Black Series GT, but almost certainly for the AMG C63 Coupe, the two-door. more focused take on the recent C63 Saloon and Estate, the Mercedes take on the BMW M4.
That seems even more likely to be the right assumption now we have video from the Nurburgring of Mercedes test drivers blatting the C63 Coupe round the track, especially as it looks just like the Facebook teasers.
On show – despite camouflage – is the more steeply raked windscreen, new bumpers at the front and back, a modified take on the back end and, it would seem, a lower ride height and bigger back wheel arches.
Powering the C63 Coupe will be the same twin-turbo 4.0 litre V8 as the saloon and estate, and it seems likely it will come in the same two flavours too – 469bhp in the regular C63 and 503bhp for the C63 S.

Richard Truesdell says
I wonder if the C63 S will weigh more than the recently introduced Alfa Romeo Giulia? If it does, even with 503hp on tap, will its acceleration, top speed and handling be enough to surpass the new Giulia?
Cars UK says
Probably not, but it won’t be as fragile as the Giulia is likely to be.
