Is Mercedes-AMG’s ‘Something Fast is Coming’ video an AMG GT Black Series?

Mercedes AMG has released a teaser video for ‘Something Fast’ on the way from AMG. Could this be a Black Series version of the new AMG GT, or something else?

It’s less than a year since the Mercedes AMG GT and GT S were revealed, both as a replacement for the Mercedes McLaren SLR and a Mercedes take on the Porsche 911. But it looks like a new model is already on the way, which could be the AMG GT Black Series.

Mercedes has released a tease video (below) proclaiming that ‘Something fast is coming’ and, even though it’s very early in the AMG GT’s life for a Black Series Model (it took three years for the SLS to deliver a Black Series), it seems the most plausible route.

If this is the Black Series, we can expect more carbon fibre, more power – north of 600bhp seems likely – a thumping great wing on the back and more prominent wheelarches and air intakes. In reality, an AMG GT3 for the road.

Of course, this is just speculation, and the ‘Something Fast’ could be another AMG GT variant (with Mercedes seeking to emulate Porsche’s never-ending 911 variants), a 4WD AMG GT – or something else altogether.

No doubt we’ll find out for sure soon.
