New Mercedes CLA TEASED ahead of CES debut
The new Mercedes CLA is teased before it joins the new Mercedes A-Class range with a debut at the Consumer Electronics Show.
The new Mercedes A-Class range is set to grow again as the new Mercedes CLA joins the A-Class Hatch and Saloon, but rather than reveal the new CLA at Detroit, Mercedes has decided it will unveil its baby CLS at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January. The decision to reveal the new CLA at CES perhaps underlines how important technology has become in ‘Premium’ cars, and Mercedes clearly feels CES is the place to reveal the CLA as it highlights more updates to its MBUX setup. Although, for now, there seem to be no details on how much cleverer the MBUX has got.
As far as the CLA is concerned, it is going to have to work a bit harder than the last generation CLA to persuade buyers of the A-Class to go the non-hatch route, with competition in-house from the new A-Class saloon to contend with too.
Then tease image reveals the sloping roofline of the new CLA, but we assume Mercedes will be doing a bit more to make the CLA stand out than just a coupe roofline.
But under the skin, and in the cabin, you can expect it to be much the same as its A-Class siblings, with the usual range of petrol and diesel engines, a CLA 35 and, in time, a CLA 45 too.
More will be revealed in January.
