The first ever MINI 5-door hatch has been revealed with an extra pair of doors and an extra 72mm in the wheelbase. Costs from £15,900 for the Cooper.

The 5-door MINI hatch arrives
We’ve already had the more BMW-like new MINI arrive, and now, for the first time, we get a MINI 5-door hatch to try and extend the appeal of the MINI range to families.
In terms of design, there’s little to choose between the 5-door and the 3-door, but the new 5-door does look a bit like the off-spring of the new MINI and the Countryman; just a little dumpy.
The engine lineup in the 5-door mirrors that of the 3-door, but we also get a new Cooper SD with 170bhp, fuel economy of 68.9mpg and a 0-62mph of 7.4 seconds.
Model options at launch will be the Cooper, Cooper D, Cooper S and Cooper SD with either the six-speed manual or a six-speed auto option.
Prices for the new MINI 5-door will start at £15,900 for the Copper, £17,050 for the Cooper D, £19,255 for the Cooper S and £20,050 for the Cooper SD with sales starting late in 2014.
