New Mitsubishi Shogun Sport to FINALLY go on sale in the UK
The new Mitsubishi Shogun Sport, known in other markets as the Pajero Sport, will finally go back on sale in the UK after a gap of more than a decade.
It’s eighteen months since we asked if the new Mitsubishi Shogun Sport would go on sale in the UK, as it seemed a no-brainer for Mitsubishi. But it didn’t happen. Then, back in the early summer, Mitsubishi’s UK boss declared the Shogun Sport would be coming to the UK, and that it would go on sale in 2018. And this time it is happening.
Based on the L200 pick-up, the Shogun Sport will be offered in the UK with just a 179bhp 2.4 litre diesel engine with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD.
The standard specification will include stuff like Hill Start, Hill Descent, Trailer Start Assist and a dedicated off-road mode for the seven-seat Shogun Sport to be properly effective on the rough stuff.
Mitsubishi say there will be the option of two specs in the UK, both with leather, keyless, LED running lights, and Mitsubishi Smartphone Link.
The top spec Shogun Sport will also come with heated front seats as well as plenty of safety gubbins including Forward Collision Mitigation, Blind Spot Warning and Multi Around Monitor with a quartet of cameras.
It’s taken a long time for the Shogun Sport to return to the UK – it was last on sale here more than a decade ago – but it’s return will do Mitsubishi’s UK sales no harm at all.
Expect the new Shogun Sport to cost around £27,500 when it officially goes on sale in early 2018, but if you’re desperate to get hold of one Mitsubishi UK are happy to take expressions of interest on their website.
