New Porsche 928 revealed?

Does a sketch of what looks like a cut-down, 2-door Porsche Panamera on a Porsche website signpost a new Porsche 928?

It’s a fair question when you see the sketch above – is this the new Porsche 928? Especially when you learn that this sketch was produced by Porsche and is in the header of the Porsche Consulting web site.

And we’ve had some strong rumours that Porsche are working on a 21st century 928. After all, they have the perfect starting point – the Porsche Panamera. It doesn’t take a great leap of the imagination to see the Panamera as a four door 928. It has the ‘Grand’ Tourer’ feel about it – if you ignore its not inconsiderable length.

So chop a bit out of the middle, lose the back doors, have a tweak and a fettle and ‘Hey Presto!’ , you have a new 928. And we think it will happen. We reported over a year ago that Porsche would make a modern 928 from the Panamera. And we know they’re planning a Panamera GTS and perhaps even a convertible Panamera. So the modern 928 isn’t a big leap.

But this isn’t it. Porsche aren’t that clumsy. Never mind, at least it’s a nice thought. Still, it gives us an excuse to put up a pile of Porsche 928 photos as a Fathers Day treat.
