Land Rover’s Gerry McGovern has confirmed a new ‘Ultimate’ version of the Range Rover is on the way as is the ultimate Sport – the Range Rover Sport RS.

The arrival of the new Range Rover in 2012 pushed the Range Rover even more upmarket, with the £100k Range Rover becoming a norm and some buyers speccing their RRs way beyond that.
But now it seems Land Rover are starting to ready themselves for the inevitable arrival of Bentley’s SUV in the next couple of years (and probably and SUV from Rolls Royce too) with an even higher spec model.
Land Rover’s Gerry McGovern, speaking to India’s Auto Blog, says that an ‘Ultimate’ version of the Range Rover – a version Land Rover toyed with in the last iteration of the Range Rover – is set to arrive offering further individuality and the ‘Ultimate level’ Range Rover. How much will a new ‘Ultimate’ Rangie cost? North of £150k, we would expect.
McGovern also went on to all but confirm that a car we know is on the way – the Range Rover Sport RS – will arrive with the aim of proving that the Range Rover Sport is not just the ultimate sporty SUV off-road, but can take the fight to the Porsche Cayenne on-road too.
Although unlikely to be big sellers for Land Rover, both cars should prove very profitable and cast a nice gloss on the rest of the Range Rover and RRS range.
