Renault UK has produced adverts for the new 2013 Renault Clio that feature a ‘Va Va Voom’ button to transport UK drivers to the heart of Paris.

The new Renault Clio is a big deal for Renault.

Mired in the problems of over-capacity, a stroppy workforce and a world that has fallen out of love with mainstream hatches, the new Clio needs to sell. And sell well.

So Renault Uk has decided the best way to do that is to throw everything in the car makers advertising arsenal of clichés at the new Clio in the hope that something resonates with car buyers.

So the latest advert for the new Clio features buyers out on a test drive in the new Clio who get told to press the Clio’s ‘Va Va Voom Button’, at which point the clichés arrive.

Up pops a Parisian background, baguette sellers, young lovers, a troop of scantily dressed burlesque dancers and even Papa and Nicole make an appearance.

But this is 2013, so Renault has produced a version for the ladies too, where the scantily-dressed women are replaced by scantily dressed men.

All that’s missing is Vic and Bob doing their best impression of ‘The Graduate’.
