Volvo V60 R-Design and R-Design Pro now on sale

The Volvo V60 – Volvo’s 60 Series Estate – is now available in R-Design and R-Design Pro trim in the UK. Prices start from £35,410.

Volvo has been a bit slow releasing the full range of new models recently, with the XC40 lacking entry-level models and the new V60 not getting a Cross Country variant, PHEV powertrains or R-Design options when it went on sale in the UK.

Volvo has already sorted out (most of) the missing XC40 options, and now it’s doing the same with the V60 Estate with the arrival of the V60 R-Design and R-Design Pro models. Although, at least in the UK, you still can’t have one with the T6 petrol or T6 and T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid powertrains.

Likely to be the best-selling V60 model in the UK (we like a bit of ‘Sporty’ to go with our Volvos) V60 R-Design gets the usual R-Design titivations with gloss black for all the exterior bits which would be chrome – including the mesh grille and roof rails – tweaked bumpers and 18″ alloys, as well as LED fogs and parking sensors front and back.

Inside is black by default – including headlining – with sports seats and sports steering wheel, R-Design treadplates, metal mesh trim and part leather.

Under the skin the V60 R-Design also gets some chassis tweaking, with stiffer spring rates and faster responding dampers, thicker anti-roll bars and a lower ride height (by 12mm). It won’t turn your V60 in to a Nurburgring spine-basher, but it will make it feel more dynamic.

Engine options are still a bit limited, but you can have the R-Design trim with D3 and D4 diesels with manual or automatic gearbox and T5 petrol with an eight-speed auto. Hopefully, Volvo UK will divvy up the T6 and Twin engine options at some point soon.

As well as the standard spec R-Design models you can opt for the R-Design Pro V60 which adds some appealing extras including 19″ alloys, privacy glass, bending headlights, puddle lights, Keyless, hands-free tailgate, HUD, heated front seats and electric driver’s memory seat.

The Volvo V60 R-Design and R-Design Pro are now available to order, with first customer cars due before the end of the year.
