Horacio Pagani has been talking about the new Pagani C9. Due to launch in the Autumn of 2010 it will feature a custom-made AMG bi-turbo V12 with 700bhp.

The Pagani Zonda is a very impressive car. It stands shoulder to shoulder with some of the finest Supercars in creation built by some of the most iconic Supercar makers in the world. Which considering Pagani is all of a decade old as a Supercar maker is a quite astonishing achievement.

But the Zonda is coming to the end of its shelf life. True, there will still be the track-only Zonda Rs churned out for a few years yet, and Pagani won’t be averse to producing one-off Zondas going forward. After all, it’s very profitable making the dreams of the very rich come true.

Now it’s time to move forward and Pagani are planning on launching the all new Pagani C9 in the Autumn. Catchy name, eh? Well that’s just its Pagani code name. The real name is yet to be revealed. We’re told that Horacio Pagani has decided what his new baby will be called, but he’s not telling anyone – yet.

But he has been talking about the C9 to Argentina’s Auto Blog (which as Horacio is Argentinian is no big surprise). He says that the new C9 is getting a custom-built Mercedes AMG 6.0 litre bi-turbo V12 delivering 700bhp and 737ft/lbs of torque. It will deliver a 0-60mph time under 3 seconds. Proper Veyron territory. The C9 also has a carbon-titanium chassis, tyres specially made by Pirelli (so think around £10k a set) and will – unlike the Zonda – be homologated for the US – a potentially big market for Pagani.

Pagani have never exactly churned out a huge volume of cars, and things won’t change hugely with the C9, although the hope is to make 40 cars a year. How much? Horacio says the C9 will cost around €900k plus tax, but he won’t say exactly how much until the C9 launches later this year.
