Part two of our road test / review of the Peugeot 107 Verve

The 107 is a great first car – easy to drive, easy to park, insurance group 1E (so it won’t cost an arm and a leg to get a bit of no claims going), so much so I’ve already recommended it to a friend who is looking to buy her first car after passing her test. But with the starting price of the Peugeot 107 Verve at £9,170 it’s a little pricey for what you get, even thought that includes AirCon, alloys, CD player and mp3 point as standard.

As a fun, economical and stylish City car the 107 Verve presses most of the right buttons. Averaging 62mpg it’s agreeably frugal on the juice; it manages emissions of just 106g/km CO2 (not a VED freebie, but almost) and its compact exterior makes it superb for tucking into tight spaces with great ease. It’s very nippy in and around traffic in town – it feels a lot quicker than the 14 second 0-60mph would suggest – and even though it’s petite you don’t feel inferior on the road.

It’s a good car, this Peugeot 107 Verve. A good city car; a good first car; a good runaround on holiday. It’s prettier than its Citroen and Toyota siblings – although that’s entirely subjective. Would I buy one? Probably not. It’s a bit too pricey and I just couldn’t get comfy.

But objectively, I know it’s a good car. So with my ‘I’m a professional’ hat on I can happily recommend the 107 Verve as a terrific little car. Especially if you’re looking for a Peugeot City Car.
