Peugeot’s ‘Dealership in a Phone Box’ stunt
Peugeot has created what it calls the world’s smallest dealership in an old Red Phone Box in Russel Square, a stunt to promote on-line buying.
Can you get a Peugeot Dealership in to a Red Phone Box? Of course you can, say Peugeot. And they’ve done it – sort of.Due to open for business next week, the latest Peugeot Dealer Showroom is located in Russell Square in the heart of London’s Bloomsbury and it’s all tucked inside a Red Phone Box.
Unsurprisingly, there are no Peugeots actually on display, instead users will find a tablet screen connected to Peugeot’s e-commerce portal where you can browse the Peugeot range, sort out finance and place an order.
Peugeot aren’t completely daft, so the Phone Box Dealer is actually secured, and you’ll only be able to gain access by using a key code from Peugeot, and you’ll only get access between 7am and midnight. How difficult it will be for morons to get a code and trash it remains to be seen.
We’re not entirely Peugeot actually expect to get any punters ordering cars from their new Dealer outlet, but it does serve to highlight that you can now buy a Peugeot without ever having to deal with a real person with Peugeot’s on-line ordering.
David Peel, Peugeot’s UK MD, said:
Not that many years ago, the process of buying a new car involved reading lots of printed literature and trawling around Dealerships. Now, despite a car being the second-largest purchase most people make in a lifetime, it can be done from anywhere – even from inside a phone box.
The Peugeot Phone Box opens for business next week (12 September), so now’s your chance to be a trailblazer if you’re thinking of buying a new Peugeot.
