The interior of the Pininfarina PF-0, teased ahead of a debut at Pebble Beach
The Pininfarina PF-0 – an electric Hypercar from Automobili Pininfarina – will make its first public appearance at Pebble Beach ahead of a Geneva reveal.
Back in April we revealed that India’s Mahindra, which bought Pininfarina three years ago, were launching Automobili Pininfarina to deliver high-end product including an electric Hypercar and luxury electric SUVs. Which seemed like a plan.Just five days later we got the first details of the electric Hypercar Pininfarina are planning, with some quite specific details about its performance (0-62mph in under 2.0 seconds, top speed of 250mph and a 300 mile range), but that’s because the PF-0 will borrow much of its technology from the Rimac C_Two.
The PF-0 isn’t expected to arrive on the road until 2020, will be produced in small numbers (it seems 150 units) with prices which will match the world’s most expensive cars.
But even though the PF-0 isn’t going to be ready for customers until 2020, Pininfarina has announced it’s taking the PF-0 to Pebble Beach this month as a full-scale design concept to present it exclusively to potential clients.
For those with pockets deep enough (and there are plenty of those floating around the Pebble Beach events), the appeal of the PF-0 will already be there with its Rimac basis, but if Pininfarina can pull of an incredible design too we can’t see them having too much trouble finding 150 buyers.
Luca Borgogno, Pininfarina’s design boss, said:
Our objective with the exterior of PF0 is to design timeless beauty in every aspect, and the interior is equally important. Pininfarina’s design values of elegance and simplicity present us with a fantastic opportunity to stand out from the styling of most current sports and hypercars.
Our guests in Pebble Beach have huge affinity for Italian sports cars. I am certain they will value our commitment to ensure PF0 is designed and hand-crafted in Turin. It is the birthplace of some of the most revered sports and luxury cars ever created.
Hopefully we’ll be able to grab some images of the PF-0 from Pebble.
